IYKYK

Every once in a while you just gotta eat some cans.

LOL

I'm still kicking around, popping in more often on Bluesky but still sometimes remembering to come here and post updoots.

-----

I was not really surprised to learn that it's pretty common for Autistic people to end up with Mystery Bruises/Injuries. I was just kind of happy to find out I wasn't alone in that. I can't count the number of times that I have gotten dressed and been like ??? Where did this bruise come from ???

I had to get myself some more bandages because I used most of my unicorn ones up. This time it's Random Colorful Designs and Dinosaurs. Because of course.

-----

Also at the store today I found dinosaur shaped gummy vitamins. Was all excite to have them when I got home and they taste AWFUL. Which I suppose it to stop kids from eating them all the time. But I'm like "You said FRUIT FLAVOR. This is TOOT FLAVOR."

If anyone wondered why I got kids vitamins...I am sensitive to a lot of medications/supplements. So I get the types advertised for children because I usually can handle those better. I suppose a combination of slightly lower dosage and less odd stuff added.

It means I'll nibble you lightly.

I ended up getting a decent wooden backgammon/chess/checkers set and tossing the old gross case. Kept the nice pieces and the dice from the old set though. Which was good because the new set only had one die. (It should use four plus a 'doubling cube'.)

I ended up giving away the old rug I had down because I just couldn't get it clean enough to satisfy myself. I scrubbed it twice after knocking the dust and dirt off. That got rid of the funky smell but nothing would take out what appears to be rust spots. The person who took it wanted it to put in their kitchen and I said go for it. XD

So I put down a brand new one that is an animal alphabet rug. The pile on it is much easier for my little vacuum cleaner to get dirt off of.

I've also been on a kick of getting Lego and off-brand building block kits. I found four sets marked down on clearance at the store. Regular $40 set for $20, two classic brick sets for $12 (Normally $20) and a special three-pack set for $10. I also found some Max bricks that build trucks with dinosaurs! They were pretty cheaply priced. The large set was $15 and the smaller one was only $6.

Oh! And I also found one of those huge rubber dinosaurs that is soft on markdown. She's a velociraptor I've been calling Barbaraaah.

Updoots

I got all the boxes sorted in the cabin and then filled it back up with more stuff to go through.

I'm a bit torn about this backgammon set I found. I like playing it. I love the weight of the pieces in the set. But the case...oh gourd. It was covered in what looked like some sort of awful mildew. And I cleaned that off but in the process...it took off a lot of the fake leather coating. And even worse, started smelling like cat pee. It's just awful. I'd like to throw out the case and get a new case but the set belonged to my grandfather and I feel kind of bad tossing it. But I don't want to play the game smelling _cat pee_ so I don't see much of a choice.

I think I'll get a new set, put in the old tokens and dice and toss the old stinky case. Then I'll still have part of grandpa's set and a nice new case that doesn't smell bad.

Other things I discovered while cleaning out three rolling underbed totes...trading cards for the local fire department from like...1998. I also pretty much emptied an entire tote out because it was just chock full of old used up puzzle books! I also finally threw out my old high school Spanish homework.

Goodness. I don't think I'll ever need that. I kept my Spanish/English dictionary and my school handbooks from 1998 and 2001. Just because they listed all the faculty and stuff. I like to look back every once in a while and go "Ah, that was a nice teacher. I miss them."

Been Busy

Mainly with work and some personal health related stuff I've been too busy to post here. But I have gotten some more stuff sorted from the cabin. All of the boxes and bags have been gone through. I have an entire box of things for yard sale/donation fodder.

I finally worked up the courage to look over the rodent damaged plushies I found in a box a while ago and I've determined that they're all fixable. I started sewing holes closed Friday after I found a two antique tins of thread, needles, buttons and various other random things.

I have another three to stitch up and then they'll go in the wash with enzyme buster to see if I can remove the smell. I'm holding out hope that if it will remove cat urine smells it will remove rodent smells. Cat pee is pretty potent stuff.

I have also determined that my selection of shoebox sized plastic bins will fit underneath the old radio/tv cabinet I have from my grandmother's house. So there's a whole lot of storage out of the way. I also figured out that my little Lego sets will pretty much sit in there without taking them apart too much so when I want to play around with them I can.

Letting go

I finally managed to work up the courage to deactivate, and thus in 30 days time, delete, my old Twitter accounts.

It was surprisingly more upsetting than I expected it to be. I'm musing on it, but I think it's because I spent so much time there and spent a lot of time with friends. 10+ years on my oldest account.

I don't miss the drama. I will not miss the outright racist, homophobic, bigoted hateful slurry of disgustingness it's turned into. But I do miss some of the people I knew on there who were decent and good. I'm on Bluesky, but a lot of them are, apparently, sticking it out over there and riding the bomb down until the site just dies entirely.

That's all up to them and I can't change it. But I do hope they drop by sometime and say "hey". It's one of the reasons I made sure to be able to post a blog here. So they'd have a place independent of those types of sites to come and see that I am OK.

I just wish the archive option had worked properly and I could have saved all of my nonsense but you know what? I'm always full of nonsense. Better to just move along.

If you know me, you'll know I've been spending a lot of time lately going through boxes of old belongings. Some of them actually aren't mine at all, but have been left here by various people who stayed with us over the years.

Yesterday I pulled a bunch of records out of a tote and put them on a shelf so I could get the tote out of the way. I don't remember purchasing these records, but there were a lot of decent ones. Most would have probably turned their noses up because many of the sleeves were damaged, but the records inside, the bit I care about because that's where the music is, were pristine. So onto the shelf with them. I'll have to take my player down and hook it up later on.

Also found a notebook where I had written down the username/password for one of the very first website 'forums' I ever joined. It made me stop and look for a hot minute and then wonder if they were still usable. It was one of those old BB-type forums where each topic added would bump the one on the bottom of the page off. Back when "bump" wasn't quite as frowned upon because you might be saving months of conversation.

Weirdest thing I found was the headlight lens to an antique car. Just a huge convex chunk of glass. Apparently it was found on a friend of the family's farm when putting up new fence posts. I had to hide it underneath a bunch of stuff because that thing would probably burn my little house down if the sun got into it! I don't know what kind of car it's from and it'll probably be hard to figure out unless someone who is knowledgeable about antique cars looks at it. It's just plain and smooth.

Hello!

I was once again mourning being unable to use Livejournal for an online blog platform as I used to do back at the turn of the century when I found out Dreamwidth uses a fork of it's code!

So I had to sign up and see if it was similar enough that I was comfy here and so far it's like putting a comfortable old sweater on again.

In explanation as to why I don't use Livejournal anymore, I am just rather uncomfortable there after it was sold off and mostly became Russian-centric. In other words, I just felt like an outsider.

Want to know more about me?

You can read my Carrd

What might you see me post about?

A great many things. Sometimes I am all excitement about a rock I found. You never know!

I do collect toys, watch cartoons, play video games, draw and read. I read a _lot_. Like. Just enormous amounts of books.
